President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sent his birthday wishes to Nigerian music legend, Innocent Idibia a.k.a 2Baba who recently clocked 50.
In a statement signed by presidential adviser on information and strategy Bayo Onanuga Friday, Tinubu said: “For more than 20 years, 2Baba serenaded us with soulful melodies, inspired generations, and carried the Nigerian flag with pride worldwide.
“His legendary song, African Queen, remains an evergreen classic that introduced the beauty of African music to the world, placing Nigeria at the heart of the global entertainment map.”
2Baba no doubt is a pace setter for modern Afrobeats music. After leaving Plantashun Boiz, 2Baba started his solo career in 2004 with the album “Face 2 Face.” The album received strong reviews and was later regarded as a solo artist’s best Nigerian debut album of the 21st century.
It earned this recognition not only for being groundbreaking but also for its hit songs such as “African Queen”, “Nfana Ibaga (No Problem)” and “Odi Ya.”
“African Queen” became an international hit, praised as a tribute to African women. It gained worldwide attention and was even used in the soundtrack of the American film “Phat Girlz.”
In 2006, 2Baba released “Grass 2 Grace, ” confirming his place as a music star. The album produced several hits, including “See Me So”, “One Love”, “For Instance”, and “True Love.”
