Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, Monday was seen at the Presidential Vila Abuja and moments later he went into a closed-door meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Details of the meeting were not disclosed but it was gathered that it was meant as a thank you visit after President Tinubu reinstated the elected officials of Rivers State as the six-month period of a state of emergency declared on the State elapsed.
Fubara also briefed the President on the state of affairs in Rivers following the handover of power by sole administrator Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas rtd.
Fubara, his deputy, and members of the State House of Assembly had been suspended from office on 18 March 2025 by the President after political unrest engulfed the state.
Tinubu lifted the emergency rule on 17 September 2025.
In a statewide broadcast shortly after his reinstatement, Fubara expressed gratitude to the President for intervening in the Rivers crisis, saying he remained “eternally grateful.”
Fubara and Tinubu...new alliance.
