Social activist and former All Progressives Congress deputy national publicity secretary, Timi Frank has called on President Bola Tinubu to speak out on recent allegation of corrupt practices heaped on Federal Capital Territory minister Nyesom Wike.
According to reports by various media Wike allegedly purchased two mansions in Florida USA through questionable means. African Action Congress leader Omoleye Sowore has filed a petition at a Florida Court urging the USA authorities to confiscate the property in question.
Mr. Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, had dismissed the allegation, which is coming up after he was accused of allocating plots of land with a market value of $6b to his songs in the FCT.
Reacting to the development Mr. Frank said in a statement Thursday that President Tinubu who vowed to tackle corruption is looking the other way in the cases Wike is involved.
“With detailed reports from credible sources such as People’s Gazette and SaharaReporters, and with glaring evidence ignored by anti-corruption agencies like EFCC and ICPC, it sends a dangerous message that some officials are untouchable,” Frank said.
“The reasons behind this continued inaction in the case of Wike appear to be tied to the political calculations surrounding the 2027 presidential elections.
“However, allowing political ambition to shield corruption will irreparably harm Nigeria’s reputation internationally.
“The world is watching, and this selective justice undermines investor confidence and portrays Nigeria as a nation unable or unwilling to fight corruption—even within its highest offices.”
