Man knifes grandparents to death over disagreement on food

The police in Kano have arrested a man identified as Mutawakilu Ibrahim for allegedly stabbing his grandfather and grandmother to death.
According to Kano State Police command spokesperson SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the 30 years old Ibrahim, believed to be high on drugs committed the crime Thursday September 25, 2025, at about 09:30am, at the Kofar Dawanau Quarters area of Kano.
The suspect allegedly used a knife to stab Muhammad Dansokoto, aged 75, and Hadiza Tasidi aged 65, following a quarrel over a food.
“The victims were immediately rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital Kano, where they were confirmed dead by medical personnel,” said SP Haruna Kiyawa.
He added that their corpses were examined and later released to their relatives for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.
Kiyawa said the suspect was arrested and based on the directives of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Homicide Section for discreet investigation.
