Pop star Selena Gomez’s mom was not happy seeing her daughter walking down the aisle without her in Saturday’s wedding to music producer Benny Blanco.
The long-time lovers were wedded on Saturday and her mother Mandy Teefey, felt she was left out because she wasn’t given the honour of walking her daughter up to the alter to exchange marriage vows with Blanco.
According to Page Six reports, Teefey, 49, is known for her sacrifices in encouraging Gomez’s career as an actress and singer — she gave birth Selena Gomez when she was only 16 and raised her as a single mother.
“Selena’s mother and her stepfather Brian were shattered she didn’t choose her mother to walk her down the aisle,” an insider told the Daily Mail of the Disney Channel alum’s nuptials on Saturday. “In a shock move she chose her grandfather David [Cornett] to give her away to Benny.”
Gomez, 33, exchanged vows with music producer Blanco, 37, in a star-studded celebration today at a private estate in Santa Barbara, Calif., attended by Taylor Swift, among others.
“It’s actually very difficult to figure out. I was around 16, 17,” the hitmaker told Interview Magazine in February of her age she initially met Blanco.
