Certificate forgery: Tinubu speaks to Uche Nnaji after resigning from ministry of science and technology

President Bola Tinubu has had a talk with his resigned and beleaguered Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji amidst allegations of certificate forgery.
Mr. Nnaji resigned on Tuesday after it came to light, he had allegedly forged his university certificates. He claimed to have graduated from University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), in 1985 with a degree in microbiology. But according to media reports, he did not pass through the four walls of UNN.
Nnaji was at the Presidential Vila Wednesday to explain the situation to Tinubu who himself had been accused of forging his Chicago University certificate, but he somehow survived the storm. Details of the meeting with Tinubu were not readily made available.
Nnaji explained in a press statement Wednesday that he resigned from his position after reflecting on the political and ethical implications of the ongoing allegations against him. He claimed that the media reports were false.
“Over the past week, an orchestrated, sustained campaign of falsehood, politically motivated and malicious attacks have been waged against my person, integrity, and office across various media platforms,” Nnaji lamented.
“My decision to step aside is therefore a personal choice not an admission of guilt, but rather a principled decision to respect the sanctity of due process and to preserve the integrity of the judicial proceedings currently before the court,” he declared. “In the end, justice will prevail, and history will vindicate the just.”
