Up and coming Super Eagles defender, Benjamin Fredrick has revealed the moment anxiety almost got the most of him when he was selected to play against Rwanda in the World Cup qualifier.
The game in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State was the half back’s first competitive game, and it was a match the Super Eagles desperately had to win. For Frederick it was a double whammy.
“I won’t lie when it was mentioned that I will be starting against Rwanda I was tensed until William Troost- Ekong walked up to me and said to me you can do it”, Fredrick told OwnGoalNigeria.com.
The Kaduna born Fredrick who is developing his skill at Brentford in the English Premier League from that game has gone on to cement his place in the team it seems.
” When I came in it was my mentor Moses Simon who told me to enjoy the moment because I have earned the right to be in the team.”
Frederick has also won the praise of other Super Eagles teammates. Uche Christianus took to his Instagram and hailed the tenacity of the 20-years-old Frederick. “He is my best centre back in the world.”
