The police in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, have arrested a reckless truck driver who killed a Nigerian student and injured others after beating a red-light traffic stop.
According to reports by People Gazette, 19-year-old Marvelous Ugochukwu, was waiting in a bus shelter when she was hit by the truck driver who ran the red light and, in the process, smashed into a car. He lost control before pinning Miss Ugochukwu who was sitting at the bus shelter at the intersection of Dewdney Avenue and Elphinstone Street in Regina on Sunday.
“The driver was trying to beat the red light. He ran into the teenager who was sitting at the bus shelter. It was a terrible scene.
“The driver of the car was transported to hospital, and the driver of the transport truck was reportedly taken into custody on scene by police,” Just Bins; a waste disposal firm notable for breaking stories related to Regina, wrote in a Facebook post.
The tragic death of the young Nigerian student triggered shockwaves in Regina, especially among the Nigerian student community.
The Skilled Truckers Canada mourned the teenager on their facebook page with commenters consoling the deceased’s family and seeking justice for the dead.
