Nigeria Football Federation president Ibrahim Musa Gusau has assured Nigerians that the Super Eagles will do everything they can to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World as they prepare for the play-offs in Morocco.
The Confederation of Africa Football confirmed Wednesday that the playoff tournament will be held from November 13-16, 2025, in Rabat, Morocco. Nigeria will play Gabon, while Cameroon, and the Democratic Republic of Congo will square up in the race for the sole ticket that will qualify to them join nine other African countries that have already booked their tickets.
The opening match will feature Nigeria against Gabon at 17:00 local time (16:00 GMT). The second semi-final will be between Cameroon and the Democratic Republic of Congo at 20:00 local time (19:00 GMT)
The Final will be played on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan at 20:00 local time (19:00 GMT).
Speaking to the development Mr. Gusau said: “Everything is being done, by the NSC and the NFF, to see that nothing is left to chance. No stone will be left unturned. That special spirit that saw the team rise to the occasion and score the four goals they actually needed against Bénin Republic on the final day of the qualifiers, will propel the team to victory in the play-offs.
“The camp will open in Rabat, Morocco on Sunday, November 9. We are speaking to the players already and everyone is on the same page. Every preparation needed to see the team soar to victory will be made, and I believe the players are additionally motivated by that keen desire of every professional footballer to feature at the FIFA World Cup finals.”
