The police in Adamawa State have arrested a 71-year-old man, Jeriel Clifford Peter, for allegedly hacking his 67-year-old wife, Miltha Jeriel to death.
The incident occurred Thursday November 6, 2025, during a domestic dispute, which later escalated to violence. Clifford Peter allegedly attacked his wife with an axe and knife in their resident in Demsa Local Government Area.
” Upon receiving a distress call, police operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer of Demsa Division swiftly arrived at the scene,” said a statement Adamawa State Command of the Nigeria Police, spokesperson SP Sulaiman Nguroje
“Her body has been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy.”
Nguroje said the suspect was immediately apprehended, and the weapons used in the attack, a knife and an axe were recovered as exhibits.
Condemning the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, described the act as inhuman and directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yola, to take over the case and ensure a thorough investigation and prosecution.
