A father, his wife and two kids have been killed in a fire outbreak in their home in Kundila, Tarauni Local Government Area of Kano State.
The fire, according to the Kano Fire Service spokesperson ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, was started by a mosquito coil at about 4:13am on Wednesday. Four of the victims include father, Shodand 43; Rafi’a, the mother, 30; Mardiya Shodandi, 3 years; Yusira Shodandi, one and half years and Aminu Shodandi, 12 years was rescued from the blaze.
According to the agency, the Emergency Response Unit received a distress call from one of its staff members, HFS Abba Datti, alerting them to the inferno.
Upon arrival, they found a ground-floor residential building measuring 40 by 30 feet completely engulfed in flames. The fire affected two bedrooms, a parlor, a toilet and a kitchen.
Preliminary investigations, according to the Fire Service, revealed that the blaze was triggered by a mosquito coil left burning in the parlour before the family went to sleep.
