General Christopher Musa was Thursday sworn in by President Bola Tinubu as Nigeria’s Minister of Defence at a time terror gangs and crime are choking the country.
Musa’s swearing-in ceremony which took place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja is coming with a great expectation from Nigerians who have been horrified by the brazen acts of terrorism by Fulani Militia, Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province elements.
General Musa assured the country that he will pile pressure on the enemies of Nigeria.
“We will not relent. We will sustain the pressure on the enemies of the state and ensure that peace returns to every community,”
During his screening at the Senate, Musa, who is the immediate past Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), decried the rising levels of kidnapping for ransom.
He promised to introduce the use of technology to track and arrest criminals and also discourage the payment of ransom money to terror gangs.
“The use of technology is very important. Like I said, if are able to have a database – every Nigerian has a number linked to everything you have electronically – we can monitor everything,” Musa.
