Popular US Grammy nominated opera singer Jubilant Sykes, has been allegedly stabbed to death by his mentally unstable son.
Sykes,71, was found dead by the police at his residence in Santa Monica, California on Monday night.
At the scene, Sykes’ son, Mika Sykes, 31, was arrested as the primary suspect. Authorities stated, “The victim’s son was found inside the residence and arrested without resistance. He is expected to be charged with murder, and the case will be referred to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.”
Sykes began singing as a soprano in childhood and pursued an operatic career during his college years. He later performed at prestigious venues, including the Metropolitan Opera, Berlin Deutsche Oper, Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, and Hollywood Bowl. In 2009, he participated in the recording of Leonard Bernstein’s *Mass*, which earned a Grammy Award nomination for Best Classical Album.
