Hundreds of women took to the street in Umuahia, Abia State to protest the continued absence of the Provost College of Medicine Gregory University, Uturu, Prof. Uwadinachi Iweha who was kidnapped on June 5, 2022.
Prof. Iweha, 74, was kidnapped by gunmen in the front of his house and despite the fact the fact ransom was paid by members of his family, his whereabouts are still unknown. They cut off all communication with the family after the money was paid.
According to Victory Sally Asomugha who spoke on behalf of the women, the government and security agency must work harder to trace the missing Professor.
“Our son left his house to worship God. They called him from the church, he went back home and till date we have not seen him. We want him back, he is our son in whom we are proud.
“We are also calling on government and security agencies to expedite action for his release,” she said.
Also speaking the wife of the Professor Ngozi Iweha said: “We are traumatized, this two months is like a hell for all of us. We are pleading with those holding him to release him alive for us and we are also begging the government and security agencies to ensure his release from his abductors,” she said.
