Afrobeats star David Adeleke a.k.a Davido has staked N36m on the Super Eagles to beat Taifa Stars of Tanzania when they clash in their opening game of the African Cup of Nations group C tie in Fez, Morocco.
Davido shared his bet on his X social media platform on Sunday saying his stake of $25,000 will see him cash out $96,564 (about N140 million).
This is not the first time Davido has backed the Super Eagles with a big bet. Ahead of Nigeria’s last competitive outing against Congo DR in the 2026 FIFA World Cup play-offs, the Afrobeats superstar staked $10,000 (₦15 million) predicting a Nigerian win and both teams to score, with a potential payout of $50,194.58 (₦75.2 million). Unfortunately, Nigeria lost that match, but Davido’s enthusiasm for supporting the national team remains undimmed.
Nigeria are favourites to top the group C pairing also featuring Tanzania, Tunisia and Uganda.
It would be a shocking upset if the Taifa Stars ranked 112th in the FIFA world rankings post a good result against the Super Eagles ranked 38th. Historically, Tanzania has yet to defeat Nigeria in a competitive fixture, further boosting confidence in the Eagles’ chances.
