The driver behind the wheels of Anthony Joshua’s crashed Lexus SUV, Kayode Adeniyi Friday appeared before a Sagamu Magistrate Court, Ogun State.
Mr. Adeniyi, 46, is facing a four-count charge, which include Dangerous Driving Causing Death, Reckless and Negligent Driving, Driving Without Due Care and Attention, and Driving Without a Valid National Driver’s Licence.
The tragic car crashed occurred Monday December 29. Mr. Adeniyi had picked up Joshua and his associates Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami from the Murtala Mohammed Airport and were headed for Joshua’s hometown Sagamu when the car rammed into a truck parked on the shoulder of the road along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said Mr. Adeniyi was speeding and was trying to do a “wrongful overtaking” when the car burst a tyre and slammed into the truck, killing Ghami and Ayodele who were seated at the right side of the vehicle. Adeniyi and Joshua escaped with minor injuries.
Presiding Chief Magistrate Olufunmilayo Somefun granted Adeniyi bail and adjourned the case till January 20, 2026. Adeniyi was remanded in prison custody till he meets his bail condition.
