A Spanish man identified as Sergio Jimenez Ramos has died of alcohol and cocaine consumption in an online challenge people paid to watch.
Ramos’ family members found him lifeless in his bedroom. He was slumped on his mattress with one hand clutching the mobile phone he was using for the streaming. Beside him was an almost empty bottle of whisky, two cans of energy drink and a pile of cocaine on red tray.
According to reports his mother and brother heard the subscribers asking the already dead man: “Are you crashing yet, Sergio? You still haven’t finished the bottle of whisky?”.
Emergency services rushed to the family residence in Vilanova i la Geltrú, near Barcelona, where Sergio, 37, was declared dead in the early hours of last Wednesday, December 31.
Detectives suspect he died during a private video session watched by subscribers who had paid to witness him consume a bottle of whisky and six grams of cocaine in less than three hours.
Sergio had previously been barred from public streaming sites including Kick, DLive and Pump for violating rules on drug consumption.
Last October, he started featuring in live broadcasts and private video sessions organised by streamer Simón Pérez Golarons, recognised online for extreme “cyber-begging” stunts.
