Nigeria’s Super Eagles face what seem like a hard climb when they tackle hosts Morocco in the semi-final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, but legendary Nigerian winger Segun Odegbami believes the team is well equipped for the task ahead.
At the 70,000-capacity Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium on Wednesday, the Super Eagles will not only be facing the Atlas Lions who are strong favourites for the title, but also the home crowd.
Odegbami a 1980 AFCON winner stated that all the Super Eagles need to do was maintain their stride, their team cohesion and remain focus, because the Moroccans also will be under pressure as they face a daunting psychologically task.
“After what Nigeria did to Algeria, Morocco will be deeply anxious. This Eagles team is on fire,” Odegbami noted.
“They will have a 12th player, a loud army of supporters pushing them forward though, but the Super Eagles are primed and ready. They have the tools to do the impossible.
“They are creating chances freely and finishing with conviction. That is championship football,” he said.
He concluded with a bold prediction ahead of Wednesday’s semi-final.
“I see these Eagles soaring over the Atlas Mountains and writing another glorious chapter,” Odegbami said.
