President Bola Tinubu has been accused of paying $9m to lobbyist to whitewash his image and that of his government in the USA.
Paul Ibe a media adviser to former Vice President and 2027 presidential aspirant Atiku Abubakar, lambasted the government or the move in a social media post Wednesday saying that President Tinubu, rather than spend money to uproot criminal and terror gangs from the country, is focused on polishing his image before the American public.
“Instead of fighting terrorists and bandits, President Bola Tinubu @officialABAT is fighting to give a positive spin to the efforts of its incompetent and clueless government,” Ibe wrote on X social media platform.
“Instead of investing money and efforts to protect Nigerians from terrorists and bandits, Tinubu is paying a US lobby firm $9 million to launder the image of its government.

The Tinubu administration had signed a contract with a U.S.-based public affairs and lobbying firm, DCI Group, to facilitate communication against the background of claims of “Christian genocide in Nigeria” by the President Donald Trump administration.
A detailed contract agreement, filed with the U.S. Department of Justice, reveals that the Nigerian government, represented by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu through Aster Legal, has hired DCI Group for a sum of $9 million. The contract will span six months, with the possibility of an automatic renewal for another six months, commencing on December 17, 2025.
