The police in Edo State have been outraged by a teen who rammed through a police checkpoint injuring three police officers.
Clips of the road rage by the teen identified as 19-year-old Nsikak Okon driving in a Mercedes-Benz GLK SUV, made a sensational view online. The incident occurred on December 24, 2025, along Iyekogba Estate Gate, Benin City.
The youth believed to be driving under the influence of drugs drove through the checkpoint on high-speed crashing and smashing the barricades and also some other vehicles parked along the street. He was later contained and arrested.
Police investigations revealed that the black Mercedes-Benz GLK SUV valued at approximately ₦28 million, was unregistered and has been in use since May 2024. A search also led to the seizure of a substance suspected to be Canada Loud, as well as a Sprite bottle containing a sky-blue liquid believed to be diluted refnol.
Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, while speaking on the incident said: “There is absolutely no justifiable reason for any motorist to speed through a police checkpoint except with the intention to evade lawful checks or endanger the lives of officers.
“Any person who deliberately attacks or attempts to harm police officers on lawful duty will not be spared. Enough is enough.”
