Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke returned to their club Seville shortly after their third place Africa Cup of Nations match and helped the Spanish La Liga side to end a four-match losing streak since December 17.
Akor Adams who scored two goals and had a goal disallowed against Egypt last Saturday at the AFCON, came from the bench to score a brace as Seville trailed Elche at home in a La Liga game Monday night. Ejuke also came off the bench to add bite Seville attack.
Sevilla manager Matías Almeyda said he was glad to have his players from the AFCON: “I appreciate the commitment of Akor and Ejuke, who were here without seeing their families.”
“The lads who are coming back from the cup are a real boost for us. I have to thank them for their commitment; they didn’t see their families and came here. I place tremendous importance on them giving up their vacations to be here helping each other.”
