Senegal Football Federation said they would be legally ready to battle the Confederation of African Football (CAF), if the continent’s soccer ruling body decides to punish the Teranga Lions for walking out of the pitch during last Sunday’s final of the Africa Cup of Nations in Rabat, Morocco.
The final match of the AFCON 2025 was almost marred by a walk-out by the Senegalese team who protested against a penalty awarded them by Jean-Jacques Ndala a 2026 World Cup bound referee in injury time thus handing Morocco’s Atlas Lions to win the game. Senegal fans also went berserk on the stands but calm later prevail Brahim Diaz fluffed the penalty kick and Senegal went to score the winning goal in extra time.
There has been speculation CAF might slam sanctions on Senegal, but FSF president Abdallah Fal told the Senegalese Press Agency (APS) that he sees “no problem” with the expected legal proceedings.
“We are waiting to see what CAF will submit, and we will take the necessary steps,” Fal said.
“There is no problem at this level. We are used to such situations; even during the Africa Cup of Nations, we already had files presented to the disciplinary committee.
“We are ready at all levels to defend ourselves.”
Abdallah Sido Sou, secretary-general of the Senegalese Football Federation, told APS that Senegal is prepared to respond to any complaint Morocco might file, without directly acknowledging responsibility for the disorder and officiating controversies that marked the final.
