Nigerian music diva and Grammy Awards winner Temilade Openiyi a.k.a Tems said its upsetting that men in the music industry would not acknowledge her as a good producer of music.
Tems who was speaking in an interview published by the Standard UK noted that she taught herself how to cook up beats and have a good session, but she continues to face rejection from men who dominate that aspect of music.
“I would [speak to men in the music industry] and say, ‘Hey, I produce too.’ They would look at me and say: ‘What? What are you producing? Who do you think you are? You think me and you are on the same level?
” It was upsetting, as she recalls desperately thinking: “It’s not that I’m trying to show you I’m big or anything. I genuinely want a good session. It’s about the music,” Tems remarked.
Tems noted that in music she would continue to be authentic as much as possible as she creates music on human emotions and not Artificial Intelligence.
“Real music will always win,” Tems added.
“Someone sent me a song, and I came to find out it is AI. Am I going to go listen to that song again? No.
“If everybody in the world chooses AI music, I’m still going to be making music like I was before anybody knew me. I will continue.”
“Me baring my soul? I don’t know any AI that can do that.”
