Human rights activist and African Action Congress chieftain Omoyele Sowore has described US President Donald Trump singling out Nigerian First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu for praise at a Washington DC Prayer Breakfast meeting on Thursday a “shameless hypocrisy.”
Trump is known for his unchristian behavior and lack of empathy at the gathering of faith leaders in Washington DC had said: “We are honoured to be joined today by the First Lady of Nigeria, who also happens to serve as a Christian pastor at the largest church in Nigeria — a very respected woman.
“Thank you very much, it’s a great honour, a very respected person too.”
But writing on his X social media platform Friday Sowore labelled the gathering a hoax as Trump’s only faith is money and power.
Sowore said, “Oh I heard it, it is exactly the kind of shameless hypocrisy that defines global American politics today.
“Donald Trump praising “singing” Remi Tinubu at his Washington DC prayer breakfast is not faith, Trump has no faith in anything but the power of money.
“Trump and his business neocons scream “Christian genocide!” for propaganda purposes, but the moment money changes hands, the “perpetrators” suddenly become VIP guests receiving standing ovations.
“That’s the power of fraudsters, they weaponise religion when it helps them, then auction the same religion to the highest bidder.”
The prayer breakfast is an event that brings together clerics, policymakers and political leaders for prayers and deliberation on actionable points on leadership and good governance.
