President Bola Tinubu Monday admitted that bandits and terror groups have hurt the social and economical life of the country, and a solution must be found for the menace.
Tinubu who was speaking at the opening of the two-day National Economic Council conference at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja, said his administration is determined to crush the insurgency and other criminal activates.
“We will find means to strengthen our security forces to defeat terrorism and combat banditry.
“That, I promise you…is what has kept all of us sleepless at night, but I assure you that we will win with determination and resilience,” Tinubu said.
“This banditry and terrorism are unacceptable. It is not part of our culture. It is foreign to us.
“So it is an economic hindrance if we do not find an immediate solution to it.”
In recent days terror gangs and bandits have struck the nerve of the nation despite renewed vigor to tackle insecurity by the government. 170 people were killed in Woro, Kwara State by Islamic jihadists and over 40 persons losing their lives in Benue State communities.
Bandits killed at least 20 people in Doma communities in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State, following the collapse of a community-driven peace arrangement.
State governors, top government officials, development partners, and private-sector leaders are participating as the Federal Government works to deepen its reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
