Yinka Davis veteran jazz and soul singer has urged Nigerian women artists to keep the torch burning and produce more outstanding music.
Yinka Davis who was one of the Nigerian music divas who held sway in the late 90’s and early 2000 noted that Tems, Tiwa Savage, Ayra Starr and others have done remarkably well, and they should break more boundaries.
“Oh, it’s their generation, they have the right to shine… and that is the beauty of it, to allow young people to explore, experience and exhibit that which they understand,” said Yinka Davis who was speaking at the recent Nigeria Railway “Naija Fest Love Train.”
She noted that a lot more should be expected from the Nigerian ladies. “When the time is right a lot more music will come. What we are seeing is just the start, we even haven’t scratched the surface, we are not near what gives and what obtains, let everyone continue with what they are doing and not give up.”
Yinka Davis noted that she is dusting herself up to make some music as well.
“Yes definitely… though a lot of things are obsolete now with the online thing and streaming, but we are working on something you shall hear very soon.”
