A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja will on October 12 hear witnesses in the alleged certificate forgery case against Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress candidate for the 2033 presidential election.
Presiding Judge Obiora Egwuatu ordered the Action Alliance (AA) to present its witnesses in court on October 12 before adjourning Thursday’s hearing of the case. The AA had approached the Court seeking for the disqualification by the Independence Electoral Commission of the APC candidate from the 2023 elections.
The AA in the suit: FHC/ABJ/CS/954/2022, claimed the APC and its presidential candidate, Tinubu, are ineligible to participate in the 2023 presidential election on alleged forgery committed by Tinubu in 1999.
However, counsel to Tinubu, Mr Babatunde Ogala (SAN), said the suit lacks merit since it was rooted in the 1999 electoral forms he (Tinubu) submitted to the then electoral body. An event that happened two decades ago. He urged the Court to throw out the case.
