Ahead of the 2023 president elections the main actors have shifted their political realignment meetings to London and former President Olusegun Obasanjo is trying to forge an alliance between Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi and Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike.
According to The PUNCH reports Obasanjo met with the duo this afternoon in the English centre of commerce and politics. Also in attendance in that meeting were Wike’s allies governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State; governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State; governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State and former Cross River State governor, Donald Duke.
Wike has now become a bride being wooed by the major candidates after he fell-out with Peoples Democratic Party flag-bearer Atiku Abubarkar. Wike earlier met with All Progressives Congress candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday in London.
It was gathered that Atiku himself is also in London and would likely be meeting with Wike in a bid to resolve their differences.
Dele Alli joins Besiktas on loan
England midfielder Dele Alli has signed up for Turkish side Besiktas, where he would be on loan for the rest of the season.
Alli, 26, a former Tottenham player started one game and made two sub appearances this season. He joined Everton on Jan. 31, just hours after Frank Lampard was appointed manager at Goodison Park.
Alli excelled for Spurs following his arrival from MK Dons in 2015 when still a teenager, quickly establishing himself as a key member of Mauricio Pochettino’s team that went on to reach the 2019 Champions League final.
Joining Besiktas is seen as a move to revive his career and boost his chances of making the English World Cup team. He played a role in their getting to the semi-final of the 2018 tournament.
