Super Eagles team B are in danger of missing the 2023 Africa Nations Championships as they fell 2-0 to Ghana’s Black Galaxies at the Cape Coast Stadium.
And unless they score all the goals they can find in the second leg billed for September 3 at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Nigeria would be out of the tournament billed for Algeria. It would be a back-to-back absence for the Super Eagles who had made only two appearances in the tournament which began in 2009. They won bronze in 2014 and silver in 2018.
In Cape Coast, Ghana dominated the game, they came out all blazing in the second half and were rewarded with the first goal scored from the penalty spot by Barneh Afrieye in the 50th minute. They piled up more pressure on the Super Eagles and in the 87th minute the coach Salisu Yusuf side caved and conceded the second goal. Seidu Suraj blasted home a rebound, which left Eagles keeper Sunday Adewale Adeyinka completely beaten.
All Ghana need is a draw or low score in the game on Saturday at the venue where the Black Stars denied the Super Eagles a ticket to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar
