Abba Abdullahi Yola, one of the presidential aspirants for the Nigeria Football Federation elections next month said the need to make a change in football administration, is driving his decision to contest.
Abba Yola was speaking after he picked up his presidential election form in Abuja, he has paid up the N500,000 form fee and according to him a change is needed in Nigerian football.
” The call to get involved and change things informed my decision to contest for the president of the NFF.
” If one really wants to make a change then you have to be involved in the process,” said the former Kano Pillars chairman.
Abba Yola is seen as one of the leading candidates following his ancedents as a sports administrator who has served a director in the sports ministry before retirement. He supervised the construction of the present head office of the NFF, when he served in the presidential task force under the leadership of Patrick Ekeji. He is currently an adviser to the present sports minister Sunday Dare.
During his time with Kano Pillars, they won back to back league titles.
His last major involvement in the reformation of Nigerian football was his role in the NFF Reforms Committee. He headed the governance structure sub committee.
