Ghana once again denied Nigeria a ticket to a major tournament as the Super Eagles team B came back luckless in Saturday’s African Nations Championships played at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja.
Full time was 2-2 aggregate score as the Super Eagles canceled the two goals they conceded in the first leg in Cape Coast Ghana, but during the penalty shootout, the Galaxies proved to be the lucky team.
Zulkifilu Muhammed opened the scoring in the 76th minute and Chijoke Akuneto leveled up in added time giving the cheering Super Eagles fans some hope.
But in the shootout Ghana scored all five, while Maurice Ugochukwu missed his kick for Nigeria.
Ghana’s Black Stars at the same venue in March 2022 held the Super Eagles to a 1-1 draw to earn the ticket to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
