A 38-year-old Pastor Isreal Adebayo, is now helping the Ogun State Police in their investigations, after he was alleged to have had an illicit affair with a 14-year-old girl who is a chorister in his Church The Beloved Chapel, Agbado Ogun State.
Adebayo in his confessional statement to the police admitted having sex with the under-age girl saying he did not know what pushed him to commit the crime. This is just as the girl’s mother declined to report the matter to the police so that the erring Pastor could be arrested after the incident happened in October 2021.
Ogun State police command PRO Abimbola Oyeyemi who confirmed the development said the suspect lured the girl into his room and forced himself on her.
” The pastor admitted defiling the victim,” said Oyeyemi
“He has begged for forgiveness. According to him, his family and that of the victim are so close, but he didn’t know how and why such a thing happened to him.
“ The mother of the child was reluctant to report the matter. But after the victim continuously bleeding from her private part since the incident, which happened October 2021, she was left with no other option than to allow police to wade into the matter.
“The victim, who claimed that the Pastor was the first person to sleep with her,.is currently recuperating in a hospital.”
The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, stepped into the matter and ordered a full investigation by the CID and possible prosecution of the suspect.
He urged parents not to cover up anyone who violated their daughters.
