Lagos State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Idris Salako who resigned from his position said the collapsed structured at Oniru was marked down by the ministry, but the owner refused to abide with the seal.
Following the collapse of the building Mr. Salako handed over his resignation to the State governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Monday.
“His exit is a prelude to the restructuring of the Ministry and its agencies,” said Gbenga Omotosho the commissioner for information while confirming Salako’s resignation.
Two people were left dead and others still to be accounted for after the structure went down in the early hours of Sunday. It would the second time in recent times a high rise building is going down.
Speaking on the development Salako narrated: “We had a developer that is hostile and who contravenes the law of the Lagos State Urban and Regional Planning, 2019, as amended.
“Several times, the officers of the Lagos State Building Control Agency visited this site and the attitude of the contractor has been that of hostility,” he said.
“The developer has been dropping names any time our officers visit the place; we have sealed the site three times and he kept breaking the seal.”
