Rapper Kanye West said Wizkid’s ‘Essence’ is one of the best songs he has ever heard, this is just Wizkid and Tems emerged the biggest winners at the Headies held in Atlanta, USA at the weekend.
The song from the ‘Made in Lagos’ album was released by Wizkid in 2020, it re-entered the USA Billboard top 200, sitting at 186 at the weekend.
“Best song in the history of music to date,” Kanye posted on his instagram page.
At the 2022 Headies held at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center in Atlanta, US, Wizkid and Tems won five trophies apiece, three of which were driven by the chart-topping record. Wizkid also took home the Album of the Year Award for Made in Lagos (Deluxe Edition), while Tems picked up the Best Female Artist and Best R&B Album awards for If Orange Was a Place.
Burna Boy took home three awards, while Fireboy DML, Davido and Patoranking managed victories in two categories each.
