Ajax defender Calvin Bassey is doubtful for his clubs Champions League tie against Liverpool at Anfied on Tuesday.
Bassey, a regular for Ajax, came out injured in the 83rd minute as Ajax beat Heerenveen 5-0 last Saturday. Team medics are optimistic the Super Eagles defender will be fit on time to face the Reds who are looking to bounce back after their 4-1 loss to Napoli in their opening game.
Ajax would need Bassey who had a good game against his former club Rangers whom Ajax humbled with a 4-0 win. The win ensured Ajax topped Group A thanks to their superior goal difference while Napoli are second.
Bassey was emotional playing against his old club last week he showed it when the Champions League anthem was being played. It was his first Champions League match and it was against his old club.
