Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola, was all praise for his top striker Erling Haaland after he smashed home the winner in their Champions League tie against Borussia Dortmund.

Dortmund drew the first blood at the Etihad Stadium after 19-year-old England born midfielder, Jude Bellingham set up Marco Rues. John Stones leveled up for City, but just when the German side thought they would leave Manchester with a point, Haaland scored in the dying minutes with a spectacular acrobat strike that handed City a 2-1 win.
It was a moment of brilliance for Haaland who has carried City on his shoulder this season despite joining the Club in the summer. His old club did a good job of keeping him quiet for most of the game. Before Haaland had the final say, he touched the ball only 26 times.
“What a goal. I remember Johan Cruyff scored quite a similar goal against Atletico Madrid long time ago at Barcelona, ” said Guardiola.
“It’s nice Erling emulated Johan Cruyff.
“The people who know me, know the influence Cruyff had on me. He was my mentor as a player and a coach,” the City manager added.
