Striking University lecturers are now considering their options after the National Industrial Court of Nigeria sitting in Abuja ordered the Academic Staff Union of University to call off their seven month old strike.
Justice Polycarp Hamman in his ruling side with the Ministry of Labour and Employment that had approached the court to intervene in the lingering educational crisis. He submitted that the strike had done incalculable damage to the educational system.
Speaking to news reporters after the ruling, ASUU’s counsel Edo Edorjeh said: “There are quite a number of actions open to the union. We will study with the legal team and then we will adopt the most appropriate action.”
