As nations continue with their build up for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Nigerian footballs have had to contend with watching their team the Super Eagles labor for good results in some international friendlies.
And one man who has felt the pinch is Katsina Football Association chairman, Aminu Kurfi, he said the Super Eagles not being in the first World Cup to be hosted by an Arab Country, was a great disservice to the game in Nigeria. He said Nigeria Football Federation officials should have been reflecting on this failure rather than jostle for position in the next board of the NFF.
“Our failure to qualify Nigeria for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar is a monumental setback,” said Kurfi while visiting injured Super Eagles player Jamilu Collins who is recovering in Cardiff City Wales.
“Nigerians have not forgiven us for the failure yet we are all out again, few months later, jostling for political offices.”
Kurfi call on football administrators to pay more importance to the players, because when the players are in good frame of mind, they would be ready at any time to deliver results when the occasion calls for it.
“For me, the players must come first. I decided not to pick a form for the fast approaching NFF Election not because I am not qualified but because I feel that as administrators, we have failed in our promise to this great country.”
Kurfi had earlier on visited Umar Sadiq who is also recovering from injury in Spain.
