The Princess Madojiemu Athletics Championships came to an end yesterday with a number of athletics talents discovered.
Over 500 athletes from 45 schools participated in the meet held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City
Speaking on the outcome of the Championships, coach George Abadonai commended the meet sponsor and former 400m national junior and senior champion, Princess Madojiemu for having the will and courage to bankroll the meet.
“It is from championships like this we can spot talents,” coach Abadonai said.
“Look at the raw athletic prowess that were on display here, these young athletes could be trained to be world champions, but our country prefers only ready-made materials, which are inadequately a small measure of our true potential.
Treasure Omosiwe who won 200m and high jump, also added that the championships have been rewarding to her and other school mates adding that she is looking forward to the next edition.
