Following outcry by ‘Obidient’ supporters, the Labour Party has removed Major-General John Eneche from the presidential campaign council of flag-bearer Peter Obi.
Major-General Eneche, a former spokesman for defence headquarters was listed in the 1,234 presidential campaign council. But a backlash from ‘Obidient’ supporters faulted his inclusion because of his role in the ‘ENDSARS’ protests. Major-General Eneche during a press conference debunked claims that there was shooting by soldiers at the Lekki tollgate in the October 2020 incident in Lagos. `
” Gen. John Enenche has been removed from the Labour Party PCC. Dear Obidients, we are here for you because you’re our strength, your voices do matter to us. Thanks so much,” said the Peter Obi Grassroots Mobilization group in its twitter handle.
Also speaking via his twitter page Mr. Obi said: I’ve received several calls of concern following the release of the Labour Party’s Presidential Campaign Council list.
“Admittedly, there were some omissions and erroneous entries in the list, hence the concerns expressed.
”In response, the Labour Party Chairman in the presence of members of the NWC addressed the issues during a press conference.
”In keeping with our commitment to accountability, responsiveness and transparency, an updated list will be issued in due course. I plead for patience. ”
