Luciano Spalletti said his aim was to beat Rangers with a wide margin in Wednesday’s Champions League tie at the Diego Maradona Stadium.
Napoli remain unbeaten in 15 games across Serie A and the Champions League, topping both the league table and Group A of Europe’s premier club competition.
“In all competitions you have to put your best foot forward, the difficulties are to repeat things every time, put in all the qualities you need, you have to go hard,” said Spalletti.
“Winning tomorrow then could prove fundamental because it would allow us to go into the game with Liverpool with 15 points and it would allow us to use the goal difference in our favour, so a win would be fundamental for the last game.
“So far we can say that we are at a good level, there has never been the sobering result, but we have always used the qualities that we have.
“We have never been seriously challenged by the opponents, but it’s about so far and we must not dwell on what we have done, but find a solution for what we can become and this requires us to be better and better and look for new solutions because we have players who sometimes find things that are above average, like Osimhen’s goal in Rome.”
However he said they would not underrate Rangers.
“I saw the last games, I found many things done well, Van Bronckhorst is a quality coach and knows how to find solutions. In the last game against Liverpool at the end of the first half it was 1-1 and they had other clear situations to score.
“It’s a mistake to think they are an easy team, we won’t think that. We will go to give our best otherwise it would mean not having the winning DNA.”
