Peter Obi

Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, last night met with Rivers State, Nyesom Wike.

Others who were present at the meeting include Peoples Democratic Party governors Samuel Ortom Benue, Okezie Ikpeazu Abia, Ibrahim Dankwanbo Gombe and former governors of Cross River and Ondo State Donald Duke and Olusegun Mimiko.

Details of the meeting were not disclosed but it is generally believed that the Labour Party candidate is desperate to get the support of those present as the months pale into days for the 2023 presidential elections. This is the second time Obi would be meeting with Wike after they both failed to clinch the PDP ticket. Obi walked away before the convention in Abuja, while Wike came second to Atiku Abubakar who got the ticket. Wike, who was expecting to be named vice presidential candidate, did not get Atiku’s nod. He picked Delta State governor Ifeanyi Okowa instead and Wike had become the bride to be wooed. He has also met with All Progressives Party representatives, while at the same time holding reconciliation talks with Atiku. So far Wike is holding his cards to his chest.
