Chelsea owner Todd Boehly said the club didn’t sack Thomas Tuchel because he lost his Champions League game against Dinamo Zagreb.
Tuchel was shown the exit last Wednesday following the Blues’ shock 1-0 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in their Champions League opener, and Graham Potter was appointed as his successor.
“No one is right or wrong, we just didn’t have a shared vision for the future and it wasn’t about Zagreb, it’s really about the shared vision for what we wanted for Chelsea FC to look like.

“Our goal is to bring a team together that with the academy, first team, with the clubs we want to acquire and develop, all of that needs to be a well-oiled machine and the reality of our decision was that we just weren’t sure that Thomas felt the same way we thought,” the American tycoon explained.
New manager Potter will have a taste of action Champions League football when Chelsea welcome Salzburg to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday. N’golo Kante and Eduoard Mendy are out due to injury but Potter said he is ready for his first outing in Europe at the top level.
“It’s a good time for me to get into the dugout,” said Potter.
“My experiences in the Champions League are just at supporter level.
“But obviously I’ve experienced the Europa League with Ostersund, winning at Galatasaray and getting through the group stage.
“Wherever we would start it would be a heck of an introduction, wherever we start it’s going to be brilliant, so why not start here?”
