Top Nigerian long distance runners are gearing up for the Warri/Effurun Peace Marathon billed for November 26, 2022 in Warri, Delta State
And one athlete who is eager to compete is Stephen Joshua Dalyop who is aiming to win the N1m top prize. Dalyop played second fiddle to last year’s winner Ishmael Sadjo in several races in the season, but according to the Plateau State-born runner, he is working really hard to consign Sadjo to the second spot.
“Yes I’m preparing very hard to win the race,” he said in a chat.
“I’m not going to be looking at any other runner, but concentrate on my race plan and finish first.”
He added that he was looking forward to being in Delta State for the race.
Sadjo set a course record with a time 29.45seconds to win the 2021 edition. He has also spoken of intention to improve on his time.
“Last year was great and this time around I want to improve on my time.
“I’m looking forward to racing in Warri again.”
