Long jumper, Ese Brume is angry with Delta State government and has vowed not to compete representing the State in any sports event.
She is the poster girl of the National Sports Festival ongoing in Asaba, and she was being expected to compete in the long jump and relays, but she is nowhere near the camp of Delta State.
“We were told that she refused to come because Delta State did host her after the World Championships where she won silver and Commonwealth Games where she won gold, ” said a source.
“She wanted Delta to host her to a grand reception like was done for Tobi Amusan by Ogun State.
“But Delta State sports officials were not keen since she didn’t do something extra ordinary. And so she decided to skip the sports festival and any other national competition.”
However, according to a friend of the African record holder in the Long jump, Brume sees herself more like an elite international athlete who has out grown the NSF. The Sports Festival is open to all Nigerian athletes local or international.
