Nigerian-born multi-billionaire Dozy Mmobuosi is set to take over English championship side Sheffield United. The technology entrepreneur reported to be worth over £7 billion has table a £100m bid for the club put on sale by current owner Abdullah bin Musaid Al Saud and according to a report by the Times of London, Mmobuosi is in the ‘final stages’ of acquiring the Yorkshire side. The Blades currently second in the championship have been in a dangerous financial situation for a while and were slapped with a transfer embargo last month after they failed to pay club money owed for a player.
Mmobuosi, who has mobile phone assembly plants in Nigeria is a big fan of football. His foundation has sponsored the Nigeria Professional Football League Super League. The foundation signed a five-year contract with the league management for the tournament, which has N100m as prize money, the first edition was held last year.
