Former Chelsea right back, Glen Johnson said Napoli star striker Victor Osimhen could end up at the London club this January.
Osimhen is yet to sign a contract renewal with Napoli and it has been speculated that he could leave next summer for free. But speaking during a chat with GG Recon, Johnson said: “Regardless of what’s happening at Napoli, I believe Victor would want to join Chelsea anyway.
“However, Victor will be kicking himself that this move could happen when Chelsea are currently in transition. Of course they’re a big team and they’re going to bounce back eventually.
“But as long as Victor is willing to wait 18 months or so for that to happen, then I’m sure he’d still want to sign for them in January. If Napoli continue to struggle this season, then that will make the decision even easier for Victor.”
Meanwhile Napoli are already looking for a replacement for their top striker who helped them win the scudetto for the first time in 30 years last season.
According to 90 Minutes, Napoli have lined up direct replacements for Osimhen and they include Jerome Akor and Victor Boniface.
Boniface has impressed for Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen this season.
The 22-year-old has scored seven times in 12 league outings for Die Werkself.
Akor has netted seven goals for Montpellier in the French Ligue 1 since his arrival from Norwegian club Lillestrom
