Popular transgender and socialite, Idris Okuneye, a.k.a Bobrisky, is a guest of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, after he seen in a video abusing the naira.
EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, confirmed that Bobrisky was arrested Pinnock Estate in Lagos on Wednesday, promising to give more updates on the development as they unfold.
“It is true our boys arrested him yesterday evening in Lagos for naira abuse,” Sahara Reporters quoted Mr. Oyewale.
“We don’t have anything to do with his lifestyle (being a cross-dresser). He was suspected of committing an economic crime and that was the reason for his arrest,”
The EFCC, in a statement on their official Instagram page, explained that Bobrisky’s arrest stemmed from a video showing him spraying and displaying bundles of new Naira notes at the premiere of Eniola Ajao’s movie, “Ajajaku.” Further investigation revealed similar incidents at various events. Bobrisky presented himself for questioning at the Lagos Zonal Command on April 4th and provided his statements voluntarily.
“He has been granted administrative bail but yet to meet bail conditions,” added Oyewale
