Eberechi Eze’s 14th minute goal was all Crystal Palace needed to collect all three points and dent Liverpool’s English Premier League title hopes.
Liverpool were stunned by the early goal and they failed to put their acts together to fight back in a match they had to win to maintain the top spot now occupied by Manchester City after a 5-1 spanking of Luton Town on Saturday. They are now tops at 74 points. Arsenal with 71 points are second on goal difference, while Liverpool is rooted at third position also with 71 points.
Liverpool had lots of shots at the Palace’s goal and enjoyed the lion’s share of possession but Oliver Glasner’s side were resolute in defence, producing several stunning last-ditch recoveries.
“We feel really rubbish and need now a bit of time to process that,” Klopp lamented
” It’s a really bad moment. It’s the second home game in a row we lose and we are not used to that. We have to see how we react on that. We have to work on that.
“We will do that, of course. But I cannot say now that’s the starting point for the rest of the season. It doesn’t feel like it at this moment.”
