About 1500 athletes are set to participate in all categories of the third leg MTN CHAMPS athletics competition and grassroots talents discovery program.
The event will run from April 23-26, 2024 at the New Jos Township Stadium in Plateau State.
Over 69 Secondary Schools and 84 Junior/Senior Teams will compete in 3505 events. All participing schools are expected to complete all formalities on Monday ahead of the events.

The Grand Final is scheduled for April 30–May 3 in Calabar Cross River State.
Speaking on the progress so far, veteran athletics coach, Johhny Igboka said the MTN CHAMPS initiative is a laudable project, which must be given all the support and attention.
“The number of grassroots talents that are being exposed in the competition is quite awesome.
“If we are desirous of making our athletics great again, those in authority should pay attention to what the guys are doing with the MTN CHAMPS.
“Being a grassroots coach I am happy one of my athletes a high jumper has been recognized and penciled down to participate in the final leg in Calabar.
“We are looking forward to more of such competitions in the country with the hopes that the talents discovered would be groomed to become world champions.”
